Bing and Grace from HIGH SOCIETY

TRUE LOVE
(Cole Porter)

"True Love" earned Grace Kelly (by then Princess Grace of Monaco) her first and only gold record. It earned Bing his 21st. The song was taken from the movie High Society, which starred Bing, Grace, Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong. Bing and Grace recorded their duet Jan. 22, 1956, with the Johnny Green MGM Orchestra. The disc hit the charts in October, following Kelly's marriage to the Prince of Monaco, where it remained for 22 weeks, reaching as high as No. 3. The soundtrack album for High Society, which included Bing and Grace's recording, also went gold. The song was recorded in two-channel stereo for theaters, but released in mono on record. The home stereo revolution didn't begin until 1958.

Suntanned
Windblown
Honeymooners at last alone.
Feeling far above par.
Oh, how lucky we are!
While I give to you
And you give to me,
True love, true love.
So on and on
It'll always be,
True love, true love.
For you and I
Have a guardian angel
On high, with nothin' to do.
But to give to you
And to give to me,
Love forever true.

For you and I
Have a guardian angel
On high, with nothing to do.
But to give to you
And to give to me,
Love forever true.
Love forever true.
