I LOVE YOU
(Cole Porter)

Although he was said to dislike demonstrative lyrics that said "I love you," Bing recorded two different songs in 1944 with the title "I Love You." The Cole Porter version, recorded by Bing Feb. 11, proved to be one of his six recordings to top the pop charts in 1944, according to Joel Whitburn's "Pop Memories 1890-1954." This amazing accomplishment was unequalled until the Beatles invaded America and scored six No. 1 hits in 1964. That year the Beatles topped the pop singles charts for 20 weeks. Bing's recordings topped the pop charts in 1944 for 30 weeks.

I love you
Hums the April breeze.
I love you
Echo the hills.
I love you
The golden dawn agrees
As once more she sees
Daffodils.
It's spring again
And birds on the wing again
Start to sing again
The old melody.
I love you,
That's the song of songs
And it all belongs
To you and me.

It's spring again
And birds on the wing again
Start to sing again
The old melody.
I love you,
That's the song of songs
And it all belongs
To you and me.
